About Semi Permanent Makeup

Professional Semi Permanent Makeup Treatments in Essex

Semi-permanent make-up, also known as micropigmentation, is a form of temporarycosmetic tattooing which allows you to have long-lasting eyeliner and lip colour as well as being able to shape and contour your eyebrows. The procedure involves tiny particles of pigment being placed beneath the surface of the skin, much like a tattoo. This pigment will stay in the skin for a number of years, gradually breaking down and fading with time, although the longevity of the results will depend on your age and skin type.

Semi permanent make up is subtle, natural and vital when those over plucked eyebrows have all but disappeared, for eyes that require a liner or colour and when lips would benefit from greater colour and definition. Sounds too good to be true, well not so...

Many of our clients are looking to improve imperfections that may have been caused by either nature, trauma or accidents. All our treatments are tailored tosuit each individual. All procedures take a minimum of 2 visits. Your first appointment often creates a softer effect which can be altered on your second visit, then usually making brows darker, liner thicker, lips darker, of course this does not have to be the case and results can be toped up to keep them the same. Each visit should be spaced out between 4 - 6 weeks and you should follow the prescribed aftercare advice to ensure your desired result.

The Treatment Process, step by step

Before you decide whether or not to go ahead with your semi-permanent make-up you will have the option to have a consultation on the day or any day before the day of treatment.

You will always need to have a consultation with Tonya to make sure you are suitable for treatment and to discuss your goals and expectations are achievable. Upon consultation she will have her portfolio on hand to show you examples of work and what is achievable.

A medical history will be taken and you will be asked to fill in consent forms to say you fully understand the procedure.

Tonya will always take photographs to use as a before, during and after comparisons.

You will then be talked through colours, whilst choosing the most suitable colour for you and the treatment a topical anaesthetic will be applied to minimise any discomfort during treatment.

Tonya will then, using a cosmetic pencil draw on the brows or lips to act as a guideline. The pigments are then placed under the skin using a very fine needle attached to a hand held electrical device.

Your treatment time will be estimated at the time of booking, and will vary on the area or area’s you are having treated. You will always need to come in a second time for your top up treatment; this is anything from 4-6 weeks after your initial procedure. This is to achieve the right result as the pigments may be absorbed and need topping up.

Because the techniques used nowadays are more natural and require less pigment, your results may not last as long as in the past where more pigment was used, and implanted deeper. How long your results last will vary depending on how quickly your body absorbs the pigment but can be anywhere between nine months to four-five years.

No recovery time is necessary and you can return to normal activities immediately after a micro pigmentation treatment, although the treated area may be a little red, swollen or bruised for a day or so. Treated areas will usually exfoliate and lighten to a more natural looking shade within a 7-14 days, hence the reason for a second visit 4-6 weeks later to perfect the shape and deepen the colour where necessary.
